Arsenal has announced that Jonas Eidevall has officially stepped down as the head coach of their women’s first team. The Swedish coach, who joined the club in June 2021, leaves after three seasons filled with notable achievements.
During his tenure, Eidevall helped the Gunners win two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup titles. He also led the team to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2022/23 season. This was a significant milestone, as it was the club’s first appearance at that stage in a decade.
Renée Slegers Takes Charge as Interim Head Coach
With Eidevall stepping down, Arsenal has appointed First Team Assistant Coach Renée Slegers as interim head coach. She will lead the team in their upcoming matches while the club begins its search for a permanent replacement.

Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar expressed gratitude for Eidevall’s work. “We thank Jonas for his commitment and the success he brought to Arsenal Women,” Edu said. “Our focus now shifts to supporting Renée as she takes charge.”

The hunt for a new head coach has already begun. Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley confirmed that the club is actively searching for the right candidate to build on the progress made under Eidevall. In the meantime, Slegers will be tasked with steadying the ship.
