Renowned activist Morara Kebaso was forced to defend himself after a video surfaced online showing him attending a rally hosted by President William Ruto during a government project launch in Kisii. Morara defended his past involvement with Ruto, saying he was naive at that time. He admitted that he met President William Ruto during the head of State’s visit to the region on March 23, 2024. Morara claimed he was unaware of the nature of the project at that time, stating, “I didn’t know that the project he had come to launch in my home area was a fraud. I was naive like most of you at that time.”

Morara, who recently rose to prominence for exposing and auditing stalled government projects across the country, urged Kenyans to continue believing in his leadership.In a tweet, he reiterated his commitment to accountability saying, “I have developed my skills over time. I have stood by my values. I will remain accountable and honest whenever such questions are raised.
The viral video has sparked a debate on social media, with netizens speculating Morara’s true political allegiance. Among his vocal critics was the ODM staunch supporter Nuru Okanga, who accused Morara of being a state project. Okanga suggested that the Kenya Kwanza administration could be using Morara’s activism as a distraction from more pressing national issues.
