Lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso has unveiled the proposed name for his new political party, the Injection of National Justice, Economic, and Civic Transformation (INJECT) Party. The announcement was made via Kebaso’s social media account on X (formerly Twitter), where he also launched a public poll to gather feedback on the name. The poll featured options of “I support” and “I oppose,” allowing Kenyans to voice their opinions on the party’s direction.

In his statement, Morara welcomed public input saying, “We propose this name ‘Injection of National Justice, Economic, and Civic Transformation (INJECT) Party,” a name Morara believes will represent the party’s mission of driving social, economic, and civic reform across the country.
Morara Reveals Proposed Party Colors
In addition to the name, Morara Kebaso suggested the political colors for the INJECT Party to be green and gold. He elaborated on the symbolism behind the colors, stating, “Green for fresh growth and Gold for a prosperous future.” This color combination is intended to reflect the party’s vision of renewal and progress for Kenya.
Controversy Over Alleged Use of Mercy Tarus’ Initiative
The announcement of the INJECT Party name follows a heated online dispute between Morara Kebaso and fellow political activist Mercy Tarus, who accused Kebaso of exploiting her ‘Kenya ni Home Initiative’ slogan for personal gain. Tarus claimed that Kebaso had sought her advice and subsequently used her ideas, brand, and slogan without giving her credit. In a strongly worded statement, Mercy Tarus said, “You cannot keep coming to me for advice and your fake commitment to the ‘movement’ then you go out to use my initiative’s name, and slogan and plan to execute a vision you do not understand. Then you go out and act like you are so superior. Hold your horses.”
Tarus further accused Kebaso of being a proxy for politicians trying to derail the ‘Gen Z Movement’, which gained significant traction during the 2024 anti-finance bill protests.
Morara’s Response to Mercy’s Claims
In what seemed like a direct response to Mercy’s accusations, Morara Kebaso posted a statement on social media, saying, “You never told me that there comes a time when the people you fight for turn around and fight you. You never told me that the people I sacrifice my life for can also sacrifice me. You never told me, but now I know.”
What’s Next for the INJECT Party?
As Morara Kebaso continues to rally public support for the newly proposed INJECT Party, it will have to go through the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to get approval before it can be fully recognized as an official political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
