A Kenyatta University student, Jonathan Nabwera Simiyu, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on the night of September 28th. His family is now pleading with the government to help locate him. Jonathan, 19, was last seen in Utawala area, Nairobi, before vanishing after an outing with friends.
Jonathan’s Last Day Before Disappearance
Jonathan’s mother, Anne Namsonge, explained the events leading up to her son’s disappearance. On September 26th, Jonathan called his father to request money for a laptop purchase. He said a friend was selling a laptop for Ksh 15,000. The family transferred the funds, unaware that this would be one of their last communications with him.

“After the money was sent on Thursday, Jonathan went missing by Saturday. When we tried calling, his phone was off,” Anne recalls.
Night Out with Friends
Jonathan spent his last known night out with a friend, Joash Wamnyokoli, who invited him to a gathering. Joash shared details of their meeting, saying, “I asked him to come for a friend’s graduation celebration, and he agreed. We didn’t stay long. Soon after, he left.”
That evening, Jonathan’s cousin, Calvin Wachana, was also with them at the Eagle’s Business Center along the Nairobi Eastern Bypass. Wachana recalls, “Jonathan asked me where the washrooms were. That was the last thing he told me. Ten minutes later, he was gone.”

This was the last time anyone saw Jonathan. Shortly afterward, his phone was switched off, and no one has heard from him since.
Family’s Desperate Search
The family has been tirelessly searching for Jonathan for over two weeks, with little success. Joash, who was among the last to see him, reported the case to Mihango police station, where they received an OB number. However, there have been no leads.
Jonathan’s disappearance has taken a toll on his family. His father has been hospitalized due to high blood pressure, and the household is in distress. “We are all in tears. We are praying for God to return our son to us safely,” says Anne.
Jonathan’s family is now calling on the government, police, and the public to aid in locating him. Anyone with details regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately.
