Moi University Receives Ksh 609 Million
Earlier this week, National Assembly Education Committee Chairperson Julius Melly confirmed that the National Treasury had released Ksh 609 million to Moi University. This financial aid comes as a relief amid the financial turmoil that has paralyzed operations for the second month running.

Melly also announced that an additional Ksh 500 million would be allocated to the university by November 15th, 2024. The funds aim to resolve the cash crunch that led to the institution’s closure.
Expected Reopening Date
In an effort to resolve the unrest, the committee has recommended the reopening Moi University on November 4, 2024. This decision seeks to prevent further disruption of academic activities. The return-to-work formula will be signed by the university staff before the reopening to ensure smooth operations.
A caretaker committee will oversee the proper use of funds, and government ministries will monitor the reopening process.
