Affordable Housing Program: President Ruto Says 4,888 Units Ready For Sale

President William Ruto announced a major milestone in Kenya’s Affordable Housing Program on November 21. Speaking during the State of the Nation Address, he revealed the completion of 4,888 housing units across the country, adding that these homes are now available for purchase. 

President Ruto highlighted the diverse range of homes built under this initiative. These include studio apartments, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options. The units are designed to cater to various income groups, featuring: 

– 1,041 social housing units
– 2,133 affordable housing units 
– 1,714 middle-class housing units 

These projects are in 24 counties.

Who Can Benefit from the Affordable Housing Program Units? 

The President encouraged all eligible Kenyans above 18 years to participate in this historic homeownership initiative. Under the principle of “One ID, One House,” the process aims to ensure fairness. 

“You can visit these developments, explore the show houses, and engage with our staff on-site for guidance,” Ruto stated.

The completed housing units focus on delivering decent and affordable living spaces to all categories of Kenyans. The program targets both the underprivileged and the middle class with an emphasis on social equity.
