The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed claims that its detectives attempted to block former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from attending a church service in Nairobi. This response came after allegations suggested unmarked DCI vehicles tried to interfere with Gachagua’s movements. In a Tuesday morning statement, DCI officials labeled these claims as misleading and false, affirming their dedication to the law.
The DCI clarified its respect for citizens’ rights and religious freedoms, emphasizing that all its actions align strictly with the rule of law.
The DCI said that its mission includes upholding personal freedoms and safeguarding religious rights. The agency stated that it values Kenya’s religious institutions, noting its commitment to respecting places of worship as spaces of peace and community.
