Rigathi Gachagua Summoned by DCI Over Assassination Allegations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his claims of an attempted assassination. These allegations, according to the DCI, are too serious to ignore. Gachagua must now shed more light on the matter at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi.

In a statement released on Monday, the DCI emphasized the weight of Gachagua’s remarks. The agency noted that any statements of such gravity, particularly from a former deputy president, warrant immediate attention. He has been instructed to present himself on Tuesday October 22 at the DCI offices along Kiambu Road.

The allegations arose during a press conference outside Karen Hospital on October 20, where Gachagua claimed there had been two attempts on his life. According to the summon letter, Gachagua will provide critical details regarding his accusations, especially his claim that undercover security agents entered his room in Kisumu and tried to poison his food.

DCI Takes Assassination Allegations Seriously

The DCI assured the public that the investigation would be handled with the utmost care and professionalism. “These are serious allegations, and we will treat them as such. Gachagua’s statement is crucial to our ongoing probe,” the detectives explained.

In his detailed press briefing, Gachagua accused members of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of being behind two assassination attempts. The first, according to him, occurred in Kisumu, while the second allegedly took place in Nyeri during a meeting involving Kikuyu elders.

Gachagua stated that after the two failed attempts to poison him, a motion for his impeachment was introduced. This, according to him, was part of a broader conspiracy to eliminate him politically and physically.
